Eighteenth Sunday after Pentecost
Worship Focus:
Our attitude about material possessions and the way we handle money reflect our relationship with God. Amos and Jesus warn that an obsession with gaining more money relegates God to a lowly position in our lives. And, as Paul relates to Timothy, the greatest price we should be concerned about is the ransom Christ paid to reconcile us with God.
Readings:
Amos 8:4-7
Psalm 38
1 Timothy 2:1-8
Luke 16:1-13
Prayer of the Day:
Lord God, you call us to work in your kingdom and leave no one standing idle. Help us to order our lives by your wisdom and to serve you in willing obedience; through Jesus Christ, your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
Sermon: Luke 16:1-13
