Labels For Education Announcement

Hello Members of St. John Lutheran Church,

We have some sad news. In the past few years participation in Labels for Education® has declined and as a result, Campbell has come to the very difficult decision to wind down the LFE program.
The program will continue exactly as is for the remainder of the 2015-2016 LFE program year. There will be changes for next year’s program starting August 1, 2016. As the Coordinator for our school, my goal is to ensure that we maximize our opportunities to earn points before the conclusion of the program. Continue to Clip and Submit UPCs and Beverage/Sauce Caps, as all participating products listed are still accepted through July 31, 2016.
In the upcoming school year, Campbell will continue to support American kids through the Grand Stand for Schools sweepstakes where last year, Campbell contributed more than $1 million to schools. More information on this program, and on how we can participate, will be coming.
Thank you for all of your help and for being a part of the LFE program. Please reach out with any questions on LFE program changes or timing.
Sincerely,
Ellen Mueller,
Coordinator of Labels for Education for St. John Lutheran School

Midweek Lenten Service #3

Wednesday means midweek worship during the Lenten season.

We will watch as Jesus stands before Herod. It is recorded in Luke 23:6-12. Ironically Herod missed Jesus who was right in front of him. Unlike that king we want to see the King correctly. And we do.

There are two services - 4:30 PM and 6:30 PM. There is a supper served in between.

See you there.

Sermon Text:  Luke 13:31-35

Jesus Has to Travel
1.  For his Father
2.  For his faithful

Prayer of the Day:  Almighty God, you see that we have no power to defend ourselves.  Guard and keep us both outwardly and inwardly from all adversities that may happen to the body and from all evil thoughts that may assault and hurt the soul; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.  Amen.

Happy Lent!

News from Campell's-Labels for Education

St. John members & school parents ...our school received the following letter this past Monday, February 8, 2016:
We are writing to update you about Campbell's Labels for Education program.
For the past 42 years, Campbell has proudly offered Labels for Education which has contributed more than $110 million in school supplies to tens of thousands of schools across the U.S. It is one of a number of ways in which we support America's kids and families as part of our commitment to being a responsible corporate citizen.
During the past year, we've been assessing the impact of these programs and through this, we've seen that participation in Labels for Education has declined considerably. Sadly, it is at the point where we have no choice but to make the very difficult decision to wind down the program.
There will be changes for next year's program starting
August 1, 2016.
During the 2016 - 2017 school year and beyond we will continue to honor labels only from schools currently registered with the program. We will remove the Labels for Education logo mid-2016 and expect there will be a limited number of products that contain these labels in stores through 2017.
We would like to thank all the schools and families that have made Labels for Education so special over the years. We are proud to have been part of your communities and appreciate the support you have shown for our brands.
We will continue to support America's kids through a program called Grand Stand for SchoolsSM sweepstakes that will run annually in August and September. Last year, we contributed more than $1 million to schools through this program. In addition, we give around $70 million annually in funding and food to support programs aimed at building healthy communities and tackling hunger and obesity amongst America's most vulnerable children.
We hope you will continue to participate this year. If you have any questions please call 1-800-424-5331 or visit www.LabelsForEducation.com.

Exodus 34:29-35
Psalm 148
2 Corinthians 4:3-6
Luke 9:28-36

Sermon Text:  Exodus 34:29-35

Gaze at God's Lasting Glory

Prayer of the Day:  Lord God, before the suffering and death of your one and only Son, you revealed his glory on the holy mountain.  Grant that we who bear his cross on earth may behold by faith the light of his heavenly glory and so be changed into his likeness; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

Happy Epiphany!  (One last time before Lent begins on Wednesday.)
