Ignite Futures: Support Our STEM Program

For this year's Give to the Max, we are excited to offer the opportunity to support our STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) program. Guided by our commitment to providing cutting-edge education and preparing our students for the challenges of the future, we have enhanced our STEM initiatives to foster innovation, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills among our bright young minds.

SCLA has offered our STEM courses for eleven years, and we have seen a steady increase in STEM enrollment. This year, the Engineering Essentials class has 44 students, the highest-ever enrollment in the class.

Our Principles of Engineering class is being re-designed for next year and the updated course will include engineering kits to program robots with specific skills. The kits we have are ten years old and need to be replaced to stay current. Will you help us purchase updated kits to prepare SCLA students for the future?

Funeral Service for Pastor Roderick Luebchow

Pastor Luebchow's Funeral Service will be held at St. John Wednesday, September 13th. Visitation is from 10:00-11:00 am, The Christian Funeral will begin at 11:00 am. A luncheon will follow after the service in the Fellowship Hall.

 The parking lot project is complete and ready to be used for parking on Sunday.

St. John Parking Lot Parking Replacement Project and Parking Restrictions

Replacement of our parking lot will begin Monday morning 7/31/23 and is expected to be complete by the end of day Thursday 8/3/23 if the weather cooperates. Please do not us the parking lot from 7/31/23 until Sunday morning church service.  You will need to park on Margaret St. or nearby.  If weather permits the lot will be ready on Sunday, August 6th. 

National Night Out-August 1, 2023

National Night Out,  August 1, 2023, 6:00 pm, at Swede Hollow Park. St. John will be grilling hot dogs, providing smores, and meeting and greeting our neighbors. If you would like to help in anyway you may give the church office a call or speak with Pastor Otto. This is a great opportunity to meet those in our neighborhood.

SCLA Golf Classic Volunteers Needed

The annual St. Croix Lutheran Academy Golf Classic is coming up on Monday, July 17 at Troy Burne Golf Club in Hudson, WI. The event filled up with the max number of golfers quickly!

We need volunteers to check in golfers, sell raffle tickets, and run games on the course. No knowledge of golf needed! Adults and responsible kids are great! Volunteers are needed from roughly 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. (or until golfers have finished). 

 

If you'd like to volunteer at this event, please sign up here. We will train you when you arrive at the golf course, provide a swag bag, and feed you lunch and dinner! It's a fun, easy day enjoying summer outside with some great people.

Jim Haberkorn, member of Crown of Life and Chairman of the Elmhurst Cemetery Board, passed away yesterday from complications related to his heart bypass surgery. The funeral arrangements will be posted to our ENews when completed by the family.

San Juan Outreach Celebration Event

      

Our next San Juan outreach event will take place on April 30. The Spanish worship service that day will be a children-focused service followed by a party celebrating the Mexican "Día del Niño" or Children's Day. St. Croix Lutheran Academy students are already collecting small toys to be given out to attendees.  

Our own St. John teens will be assembling the party favor bags.
