Host an International Student Over Christmas

Two more homestay families for boys are urgently needed for international students who will not be traveling home Friday, December 20 through Sunday, January 5. Homestay families provide a private room, bedding, meals, access to bathroom and laundry facilities, and transportation for the visiting student. A $700 stipend is granted for hosting.

This is an excellent opportunity to share family traditions and make Christmas brighter for a student far from home.

Christmas Concerts at SCLA

Prepare your hearts for the Christmas season with beautiful student music at SCLA.

Join us for two concerts by the younger students on Monday, December 16 in the chapel. At 6:00, the Association Grade School Band Concert showcases what our area students have been learning in their lessons and band practices. We're proud to have 96 grade schoolers in the Crusader band program! After the bands finish, stay for the SCLA Middle School Christmas Concert "Noel" at 7:00, featuring our choir, band, Christmas readings, and a message from Pastor Sievert.

Grab your Christmas sweater and a seat in the gym for the High School Christmas Concert on Thursday, December 19 at 7:00. The bands and choirs will bring you "Tidings of Joy" to send you off on Christmas break with a full heart.

SCLA Volleyball Team Heads to State!

 

For the first time since 2012 and the second time in school history, the SCLA Volleyball team is headed to State! Congratulations to our Lady Crusaders on their Section 4AA championship victory last Friday!

On this Thursday, November 7, the team will head to the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul for their first game at State, starting at 3:00. Come cheer them on!

Advent by Candlelight

 Advent by Candlelight is returning to St. John.  All ladies, ages 14 to 114, are invited to attend this event to focus attention on the true meaning of the Advent season.  Mark your calendars now and plan to join us for the afternoon of Saturday, Dec 7.  As in the past, this is intended to be an outreach event, so you are encouraged to invite neighbors, friends, coworkers, relatives, or anyone with whom you would like to share the glorious message of the first coming of our Savior. In a few weeks, there will be invitations out on the table that you can distribute to anyone you care to invite, but ask them now, so they can save the date.

Again, we will be looking for ladies of St. John who would be willing to host a table of eight. If you are interested, please speak to Tamara Julian (651-453-1545) or Jean Koepsell (952-353-5969) for details.

 Hey Alumni!

SCLA 2024 Homecoming!

 Homecoming

Welcome back Alumni! Homecoming is Friday, October 4. Join us for the parade at 5:00, the Alumni Tent with free food and t-shirts at 5:30, and the football game at 7:00. Cheer on the Crusaders as they take on Concordia Academy.

Then come back the next morning for the Run the Ravine 5K and Kids Fun Run on Saturday, October 5. Participants can run or walk a route that begins at SCLA, winds through Thompson and Kaposia Parks through Simon's Ravine, and ends at SCLA. All participants will receive a commemorative t-shirt and car sticker. The top finisher in each age division will be awarded a medal.
